QAIS BIN MUSAHHAR SAIDAWI
*******************************
He was
martyred before Aashoora in the city of Koofa. He was a brave young man
from Koofa and was a noble man from the tribe of Bani Asad. He took the
letters from the people of Koofa to Imam Hussain (A.S) and then came to
Koofa with Hazrat Muslim (A.S). After some time, Qais took a letter from
Muslim (A.S) to Imam Hussain (A.S). Imam Hussain (A.S), at the place of
Batn-ur-Rumah wrote a letter addressed to the poeple of Koofain which he
informed them about himself travelling towards Koofa. Imam (A.S) handed
this letter to Qais to take it to Koofa. In the region of Qadsiyya, Qais
was arrested by Hussain bin Numair who was a commander of the army of Koofa.
Qais, in order that the subject of the letter should not be disclosed to
the enemy, destroyed it. He was brought in front of Ubaidullah bin Ziad.
Ibne Ziad tried to find the names of those addressed in that letter but
to no avail. Ibne Ziad asked him to tell those names or go to the pulpit
and curse Imam Hussain (A.S), Imam Hasan (A.S) and Hazrat Ali (A.S) otherwise
he would be killed. Qais accepted to go to the pulpit. He started with
praise of Allah and said peace upon Hazrat Ali (A.S), Imam Hassan (A.S)
and Imam Hussain (A.S) and cused Ibne Ziad and his father and invited the
people to help Imam Hussain (A.S). When the news reached Ibne Ziad, he
got furious and ordered to throw him from the roof of the palace. Qais
went up bravely and got martyred. When the news reached Imam Hussain (A.S),
he weapt and recieted the verse of Holy Quran,' There are people who have
fulfilled their promise with Allah. Some of them are martyred while the
others are waiting and they did not back out their promise.'
